PHILADELPHIA — Luis Ángel Acuña will get his chance with the Mets after all this season.
The versatile prospect went undesignated by the team when rosters were expanded earlier this month, but the team is looking for more flexibility with its bench players and the 22-year-old Acuña is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, a source confirmed to The Post.
The move appeared to have been planned even before Francisco Lindor left the seventh inning of Friday night's 11-3 win over the Phillies due to back soreness.
Acuña, the younger brother of Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr., joined the Mets last summer in the trade that sent Max Scherzer to Texas.
Acuna has played in 131 games for Syracuse this season, batting .258/.299/.355 with 40 stolen bases.
Acuña can play both the infield and the outfield, giving the Mets options after Jeff McNeil was ruled out for the remainder of the regular season with a broken wrist.
