Mets could target Blake Snell if they don’t sign Yoshinobu Yamamoto

Rival teams have hinted that they view the Mets as a big player for Japanese ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but many teams believe that is far from a certainty as they have a lineup of big-spending teams. There is.

The Mets aren’t assuming anything and have expressed interest in other free agent pitchers, including Blake Snell, Jordan Montgomery and Eduardo Rodriguez. Among the alternative options, Snell may be preferred.

The Yankees also have high hopes for Yamamoto, but only ex-Yankee forward Montgomery has been rumored as an option for the star pitcher.

The Red Sox are closing in on Montgomery, but the incumbent Rangers are currently seen as the favorites to win.

A report by Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle suggests multiple teams. I envisioned the Giants as a good fit.. The Giants are also doing their best to acquire Ohtani, which could affect their ability to acquire Yamamoto.

Former Met Seth Lugo could be the Mets’ main nemesis in Atlanta. The Braves are among the teams bidding on the free agent.

The Red Sox, Reds and Diamondbacks also have interest in Lugo.

The Cubs are eyeing Matt Chapman and homegrown Cody Bellinger, but are waiting on Ohtani first.

The Cubs also have interest in Rhys Hoskins, as Pete Alonso is probably not going anywhere.
