Mets fans were yelling “OMG” on Sunday, and it wasn’t a good thing.
The series finale between the Mets and Marlins will air as part of the Roku MLB Sunday Leadoff package, with Marlins announcer Paul Severino providing play-by-play commentary and analysis from MLB Networking’s Anthony Recker.
However, Severino’s pitching style was not well received by Mets fans, especially after Brandon Nimmo hit a solo home run into the upper right-field stands at Citi Field to give the Mets a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning.
Severino’s lack of enthusiasm about the call frustrated Mets fans, who took to social media to air their frustration.
“Nimmo hit a home run into the second deck and the Mets were up 2-1,” Severino said, using the same inflection in his voice.
“The game sucks without Gary Cohen. That was the most boring home run call I’ve ever seen.” Written by one user in X.
“This is just awful. Paul Severino is no Gary Cohen.” Written by another person Regarding the home run call.
“What’s the point of a ‘national station’ on Roku that only has the Marlins’ main announcer?” another user asked.
According to Awful Announcing, the problem wasn’t limited to broadcasters, as fans took to social media to complain about the lack of access to live matches and streaming issues.
The Mets ultimately lost to the Marlins 3-2 in a game they needed to win given their tough schedule ahead.

The Mets will play three games against the Orioles in Queens, then four games against the Padres, before playing three games against the Diamondbacks.
Nimmo left the game in the eighth inning with right shoulder soreness after making a diving catch and is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, making for yet another bleak day for the Mets.
