Harrison Bader was removed from the starting lineup Friday with a minor right ankle injury, but the team’s starting centerfielder doesn’t expect to be sidelined too long.
Bader was injured when he was stabbed while attempting to steal third base in Game 1 of the Subway Series against the Yankees on Tuesday.
An MRI showed no structural damage and there is no discussion of a placement on the disabled list.
“I was trying to steal a base and I got stung and I slipped a little bit on the dirt and my capsule shook a little bit,” Bader said. “I’ve been putting myself in some tough situations the last couple days just trying to be myself for the team. I just got through it and everything feels good.”
Bader, 30, a Bronxville native, was a valuable offseason addition.
He excelled in center field and outperformed expectations with a .263 batting average, .703 OPS, eight home runs and 36 RBIs.

Tyrone Taylor, who has started the past three games in place of Bader at center field, was 1-for-4 on Friday.
During this extended hot streak, the Mets have become especially tough to beat at home.
They are 15-3 in their last 18 games at Citi Field and 28-26 at home for a winning percentage above .500.
Francisco Lindor was 0-for-4 at-bats on Friday night, ending his 10-game hitting streak.
During his 10-game stretch, Lindor batted .359 (14 for 39) with six home runs, 14 RBI and a .846 slugging percentage.
Shortly before his first appearance, the Mets reportedly traded relief pitcher Cole Sulcer to the Rays in exchange for cash considerations.
The 34-year-old Salcer was designated a designated player on Monday. He has appeared in four games for the Mets this year.
