Mets infielder Jose Iglesias brought his summer hit “OMG” to Rye Playland Park on Monday, belting out the song during a special meet-and-greet with fans.
Iglesias had the crowd on its feet and dancing to the catchy tune, and the singer and baseball player even encouraged the crowd to sing along in a video posted to the park’s Instagram Story and shared on SNY’s social media channels.
Other posts on Playland Park’s social media accounts showed Iglesias, dressed in a striped T-shirt and brown pants, posing with one fan after another.
Some photos showed him holding an “OMG” sign, similar to the one he was seen holding during the victory celebration in the Mets dugout.
The performance and meet-and-greet are part of an event planned in partnership with radio group Audacy New York, which will initially include the Mets’ radio home stations WCBS-FM 101.9 and WCBS NewsRadio.
WCBS-FM 101.1 host Race Taylor and 94.7 The Block host Ted Smooth hosted the event.
On Monday, it was announced that WCBS Newsradio would be shutting down and ESPN New York would be moving to the 880 frequency.
Released on streaming platforms in late June, Iglesias debuted the hit single earlier this summer, performing it live at Citi Field after the Mets beat the Astros, 7-2.
The infielder wrote “OMG” and said he began using it as his walk-up song after being promoted from Triple-A Syracuse on May 31. The Associated Press.
The song quickly became the Mets’ theme song and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Digital Song Sales survey last month.
Iglesias’ song joins a long list of anthems that have dominated the Mets’ season, including past hits such as the Baha Men’s “Who Let the Dogs Out?” and more recently Timmy Trumpet’s “Narco.”
