Mets’ offense still far from ‘hitting on all cylinders’

The Mets own the best record in the Major League (18-7) after the best staff in baseball, statistically.

The team knows pitching dominance, which is easily number one in the MLB, 2.34 ERA. This is not sustainable.

The club hopes that the hits will heat up as the pitching cools down.

“We haven’t even hit all the cylinders, and the guys still feel their way throughout April,” co-director Eric Chavez said recently.

Pete Alonso has been carrying the team for nearly a month, and Francis Colindore has pitched over the past few weeks.

Otherwise, the attack is in the middle.

Entering Thursday’s offday in Washington, the Mets were offensive just below the average of 4.20 runs per game.

Their only other everyday player with an OPS above average was Juan Soto, who has walked enough to increase productivity, but was not the best in their first month with the team.

Brandonnimo hit the ball hard, but no results were found.

He was more offensive than usual – he swings on the first pitch for around 29% of his at-bats over his first nine seasons, but this season is in the 41% clip “too expensive,” Chavez said.

Still, Nimmo’s average (.196) is far below the expected average (.246).

He was unlucky for the first two weeks of the season, but was the same as Mark Vientos, who has increased his OPS from .393 to .579 in the last nine games.

“I’m finding a hole now,” Vientos said after holling on Tuesday. “The hardest part about this game is not to run away from you, whether or not you have any results.”

Help is currently underway in the form of Jeff McNeill and Francisco Alvarez, which are scheduled to be revitalized on Friday.

Without McNeill, Louis Sangel Ackna and Brett Batty were more and more impressed with 2 bases, but Louis Torrence (average .241, .675 OPS) holds himself in the catcher.

However, the Mets’ best batting team features McNeill and Alvarez.

“I’m really looking forward to the summer,” Chavez said of the attack he believes will take off.

The Mets’ match against the Cubs on May 11 moved from 11:35am to 12:05pm

The game will only be broadcast on Roku.
