Notable items from Sunday’s Mets’ Grapefruit League game:
rough finale
Mets bullpen prospect Sean Reid-Foley allowed all three batters he faced to reach base in the Mets’ 5-1 loss to the Marlins in Jupiter, Florida. He recently battled bicep discomfort and was pitching in the Grapefruit League for the first time since March 9. He was ejected after pitching 23 times.
Diaz Dazzles
After walking two batters in his last Grapefruit League appearance, Edwin Diaz pitched a perfect six innings in the Mets’ 10-1 victory over the Nationals at Clover Park.
It caught my eye
Tyler Megill ended the spring with his second straight outrageous pitch. The right-hander pitched five innings against the Marlins, allowing three earned runs on three hits and two walks. However, Megill also struck out seven batters.
Monday schedule
The Mets conclude the Grapefruit League with a game against the Yankees in Tampa.
