A small polar bear is on the way.
On Saturday morning, Pete Alonso and his wife, Haley Walsh, announced on Instagram that they are expecting their first child through a series of affectionate photos of the couple with several ultrasound images.
“Baby Alonso 2025 🤍 We can't wait for the next chapter to become mom and dad,” Walsh wrote in the caption.
Walsh wore a long white dress with hair styled with beach wave curls, while Alonso wore black pants and a black T-shirt.
The couple have been together since 2015 after the two met while Alonso was playing summer baseball in the Cape Cod League as students at the University of Florida.
Walsh was a Michigan student at the time, and the two maintained a long distance relationship until they graduated from school.
Alonso pops the question in November 2018 and married in Tampa, Florida in 2021.
Alonso will not only pursue the World Series title after joining the NLCS with the Mets last season, but will also take on new challenges as a father.
For the benefit of his family, the first baseman and four-time All-Star signed a two-year, $54 million contract, including opt-outs from 2025 onwards, so for now there's nothing involved.
Throughout the first seven games of the season, Alonso's bats were hot, coming 7-24 at the plate with three home runs and 10 RBIs.
At Friday's home opener, he homed the first plate look, with the Mets sitting above .500 for the first time this season, with a 5-0 win over the Blue Jays.
With 229 career homers, Alonso follows the club mark of 252 Daryl Strawberry.
