Major League Baseball on Sunday suspended New York Mets pitcher Johan Ramirez and manager Carlos Mendoza following an incident in a game with Milwaukee Brewers star Reese Hoskins.
Ramirez threw behind Hoskins during Saturday’s game, adding another chapter to the feud between the slugger and the Mets.
The pitch, which came after Hoskins hit a home run and single, was caused by Hoskins’ hard slide into Mets second baseman Jeff McNeil on Friday.

Mets broadcaster Ron Darling also criticized the pitching, saying, “The message was delayed by about two hours.”
The Ramirez and Hoskins cases were enough for MLB to pass the law. The announcement came more than an hour before the final game of the series between New York and Milwaukee.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy didn’t think the pitch was intentional.
“There’s a history there, there was an argument the day before and it went over his head, but I don’t think it was intentional,” Murphy said. “I didn’t encourage them to take him out of the game. I just said, ‘Hey, we’ve got to get this right. We don’t want people to get hurt.’ ”
Ramirez joined the Mets in the offseason after appearing in 31 games with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago White Sox in 2023. Ramirez is appealing his suspension, the newspaper said. new york post.
Mendoza was named to replace Buck Showalter and is in his first season as the Mets’ manager. He has only played in two games and will miss what would have been his third game.
