Mexico Open results, payout: Brian Campbell wins playoff thanks to insane break

Pay when you're lucky.

On the par 5 18th, the second playoff hole of the Mexico Open, Brian Campbell hit a push slice that was doomed to trouble. His ball sailed towards the outskirts and looked like he lost the tournament. Then somehow Campbell's ball bounced back I left the strips of trees and went back to play.

From there, the former Illinois star slammed 68-68 yards from three trees from the pin, then went up and down for birdies and victory.

His playing partner, 20-year-old Aldrich Poggilator, missed out on a birdie six-footer that extended the playoffs.

Potgieter is also the longest hitter on the PGA Tour, but Campbell is the shortest and quite juxtaposed. However, the exquisite and entertaining length of Potgieter did not grab the day. Instead, his short game disappointed him at the end – something he struggled all day.

With the victory, Campbell booked a trip to the Augusta National and PGA Championship. He also wins entry into all remaining signature events, a career-changing trajectory.
