Miami Beach has canceled “Sean Diddy Combs Day” after a shocking video surfaced of the rap mogul beating up his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.
The annual holiday, which was established in October 2016, was abolished last week by a unanimous vote of city commissioners. Miami Herald report.
Former Mayor Philip Levin introduced the honorary annual event in memory of Combs, a Miami Beach, Fla., resident.
But Combs had the honor revoked after CNN released shocking video footage of him abusing his ex-wife in a hotel hallway in 2016. Solution show.
The Post has reached out to a representative for Combs for comment.
This comes just weeks after New York City Mayor Eric Adams revoked the rap star’s New York City permit last month.
The keys were returned after Adams sent a letter to Combs on June 4, according to spokesman Deputy Mayor Fabian Levy.
“I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all victims of domestic and sexual violence. Our city has worked tirelessly to ensure that victims’ voices are heard and understood by our city officials,” Adams wrote, adding that she was “deeply troubled” by the video.
In the video CNN announced Last month, Combs, 54, was seen throwing his then-girlfriend Ventura to the floor of a hotel, kicking her, dragging her down a hallway and throwing objects at her.
After the footage went viral on social media, Diddy released an apology video on social media.
In the video, Combs says he takes “full responsibility” for his actions, before passionately describing how he was at “rock bottom” at the time the video was recorded.
He added that he has since been going to therapy to become a better person, and that he felt “disgusted” with himself at the time of the assault, and still does today.
The music executive did not mention Ventura by name in his apology video, reportedly for legal reasons.
Combs was in a relationship with the “Long Way 2 Go” singer from 2007 to 2018.
She then began dating personal trainer Alex Fine, whom she married in September 2019. The couple have two daughters, Frankie (4) and Sunny (3).
