Miami Marlins Name Clayton McCullough As Next Manager

Miami has their guy!

The Miami Marlins have named former Los Angeles Dodgers first base coach Clayton McCullough as their next manager.

spend Past 4 campaigns McCullough, 44, who played with Dave Roberts for the Dodgers, won the World Series in the final game with the team. McCullough replaces Skip Shoemaker, whose contract was not renewed at South Florida. Shoemaker went on to play for the Texas Rangers and currently serves as a senior advisor to President of Baseball Operations Chris Young. (Related: A's franchise name officially calls the Knicks “Oakland,” now known simply as the “Athletics.”)

Throughout his career as a catcher, McCullough was in the minor leagues. From 2007 to 2014, he was the manager in the Toronto Blue Jays' farm system, winning six of those games. Later, the Dodgers offered him a job as a minor league field coordinator. He was then under current Marlins assistant general manager Gabe Kapler.

Los Angeles eventually promoted McCullough to the Major League coaching staff in 2021, taking over as the team's first base coach.

As a fan of both the Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves, I absolutely love this move. This is a perfect move for the “Moneyball” that general manager Peter Bendix is playing. This is something that proved successful during his time with the Tampa Bay Rays. .

Shout out to Trey, baby. I dig everything I see.
