Micah Parsons' agent offers a glimpse into the challenging negotiations with the Cowboys

Mika Parsons’ Contract Negotiations with Cowboys Stall

Mika Parsons’ agents find themselves excluded from negotiations with the Cowboys, prompting a response from them.

David Murgueta has taken part in discussions behind the scenes, while Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made it clear he prefers to negotiate directly with the 26-year-old linebacker and will not engage with his representatives.

Murgueta has attempted to speak with the Cowboys about Parsons’ contract extension on two occasions in the last 18 months, but each time his overtures were turned down.

The first approach happened at the 2024 NFL combine, where the team was focused on securing deals for quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Prescott faced his own tough negotiation process that dragged on until just before the start of last season, leaving Parsons’ situation unresolved until the offseason of 2025.

Murgueta noted that Parsons isn’t keen on negotiating during the season.

At the 2025 NFL combine, he once more reached out to the Cowboys.

This attempt came shortly after significant contracts were handed out to TJ Watt of the Steelers and Miles Garrett of the Browns.

Jones has previously stated that he is not interested in dealing with agents and remarked on April 1 that he didn’t even know Parsons’ agent’s name. He emphasized that he didn’t intend to dismiss Murgueta but reiterated, “This is not an agent.”

Parsons was not pleased with Jones’ comments and many perceived them as dismissive of his representatives.

“Fact!! David is the best,” Parsons shared on X-Post. “I wouldn’t agree to a deal without David Murgueta being involved. I have my reasons; I hired an expert.”

Parsons further expressed, “There’s no one I trust more for contract negotiations.”

Since then, Parsons has requested a trade and has not been participating in team practices, though he remains at training camp to avoid fines.

Jones mentioned uncertainty regarding Parsons’ availability for the season opener against the Super Bowl champion Eagles on September 4th.
