Micah Parsons’ off-field activities may not be well received among his Cowboys teammates.
Currently appearing “All Facts No Brakes” Podcast Along with former Pro Bowl receiver Keyshawn Johnson, Dallas safety Malik Hooker spoke about Parsons’ podcast hobby.
“My advice to Micah is just make sure guys are OK and on their feet,” Hooker said on June 27. “If we’re working out and our run game is awful and we’re doing a podcast every week, you know our run game is awful, what are you really concerned about? The audience that’s watching the podcast or the success of our team and the Super Bowl that we’re aiming for?”
Parsons will launch “The Edge with Micah Parsons” podcast in 2023 and in May was named president of Bleacher Report’s Gridiron division, focusing on the company’s football creative content.
The All-Pro edge rusher didn’t seem pleased with Hooker’s words or how he delivered them.
“I wish you’d told me on the podcast!” Parsons wrote. Deleted Tweet“You have my number! And you’re my locker mate! So you could have said this at any time! And you know I film a podcast on my days off! Why don’t we talk about keeping everybody prepared and focused,” she said, as reported by the Dallas Morning News.
Hooker then responded with his own response, appearing to put out the flames by calling Parsons his “brother” and saying “his podcast is not doing any harm.”
Parsons has been one of the NFL’s best defenders since entering the league in 2021, recording 40.5 sacks and 51 tackles for loss in that span, ranking fourth, respectively.
The 28-year-old Hooker, meanwhile, has spent the past three years in Dallas after playing his first four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
The edge rusher and safety each started more than 15 games for the Cowboys last year and have gotten pretty good at communicating with each other.
Parsons, edge rusher DeMarcus Lawrence and cornerback Daron Brand spearheaded a strong Dallas defense that ranked fourth in expected points per play last season.
Despite Dallas’ efficiency and production on both offense and defense, they lost to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Divisional Round, providing further fodder for critics who reveled in the team’s postseason struggles.
Parsons has been especially in the spotlight this offseason thanks to his media business.
The 25-year-old has regularly collaborated with Texans superstar quarterback CJ Stroud, with the two even attending sumo matches in Japan and sharing their opinions during the 2024 NFL Draft.
Additionally, Parsons received heavy criticism from within the baseball community for claiming he could hit .180 to .200 over a full MLB season.
With training camp starting in just three weeks, Parsons will have another opportunity to clear the air a bit, including potentially working out some issues with Hooker.
