Micah Parsons from the Cowboys shares straightforward thoughts as standoff continues

Mika Parsons’ Contract Concerns Loom as Cowboys Practice

On Wednesday, Mika Parsons observed the Dallas Cowboys’ padded practice in Oxnard, California. Yet, his ongoing contract dispute continues to overshadow the team’s preparations for their return to Texas.

Standing close to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Thursday, Parsons hasn’t engaged in talks between his representatives and the team’s management. Remarkably, last week, Jones mentioned that he hadn’t had a conversation with Parsons since the latter’s request to be traded surfaced.

Jones clearly stated that he does not plan to trade the All-Pro edge rusher. When questioned about the status of contract negotiations, Parsons remained tight-lipped, simply saying, “My mouth is closed,” according to sources.

Despite missing four games last season, Parsons still managed to rack up 12 sacks, maintaining a streak of double-digit sack totals for each of his first four seasons in the NFL.

As it stands, Parsons is entering the final year of his rookie contract as the 2025 regular season approaches. He is seeking a new deal, especially after other star players like Miles Garrett and TJ Watt secured significant extensions this summer.

The Cowboys are set to face off against the reigning champion Philadelphia Eagles on September 4 to kick off the regular season.
