Micah Parsons in the Spotlight During Cowboys-Falcons Game
Micah Parsons was on the sidelines during the Dallas Cowboys’ decisive victory over the Atlanta Falcons in their preseason finale, and he managed to make headlines anyway.
Before the game started, the star pass rusher was spotted enjoying nachos. During the match, he seemed to take a break, resting on a training table near the Cowboys’ bench while the offense took control of the game.
This sparked some debate, leading Parsons to express his gratitude about media coverage. “It’s fascinating how the media shapes narratives. If I don’t speak up, folks will just run wild with their assumptions,” he commented about his brief downtime during the game.
Adding to the discussion, he voiced that he “never underestimates anyone’s struggle,” hinting at the competitive nature of the league.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer admitted he wasn’t aware of Parsons’ behavior during the game, and the 26-year-old declined to address the media after the Cowboys secured a 31-13 win.
Teammate Trevon Diggs shared insights about Parsons’ condition, mentioning, “It really depends on how his back feels. He said it was quite painful this morning and was looking into it, but that’s the last I heard.”
This incident comes amid contract negotiations, with Parsons recently indicating he had made a trade request. Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones hinted at discussions with Parsons’ agent, David Murgueta, regarding contract talks, stating that he felt negotiations had already progressed significantly.
However, Ryan Clark, a former Steelers player and current NFL analyst, criticized the situation, claiming that Murgueta was simply playing along, rather than being straightforward in negotiations.
Parsons, who missed four games last season yet still managed to finish with 12 sacks, is entering the final year of his rookie contract.
