Micah Parsons will join Cowboys mini-camp despite contract concerns.

The current situation regarding Micah Parsons’ contract presents a mix of news for Cowboys supporters. While there hasn’t been any agreement on a groundbreaking extension, the standout pass rusher assured fans that he will be present for next week’s mandatory mini-camp.

“I’m there!” Parsons announced on x on Tuesday. “I haven’t missed a mini camp for four years! My contract isn’t finished, but I have a teammate and a playbook! I’m ready to be on the field in the first week of camp!”

This statement aligned with the optimism expressed by Dallas’ new head coach, Brian Schottenheimer. He indicated his confidence earlier on Tuesday that Parsons would participate in the mini-camp from June 10 to June 12.

“I would assume so,” Schottenheimer noted. “I spoke to Micah a few days back. He’s been traveling a bit, but from what we discussed, I think he’ll be here.”

Parsons has been somewhat active at the Cowboys’ OTAs over the past few weeks. The 26-year-old is gearing up for the final year of his rookie contract, which includes a fully guaranteed $24 million payout for 2025.

The potential extension would have to get the green light from owner Jerry Jones, even though Parsons is already a four-time Pro Bowler and has received two All-Pro nods.

His upcoming contract might surpass Miles Garrett’s four-year, $160 million deal, making him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history. Looking at his performance over four seasons with Dallas, it’s easy to see why he’d be in line for a significant raise.

Last season alone, Parsons recorded 52.5 sacks and 63 tackles for loss in just 13 games, with impressive numbers of 12 sacks and 12 tackles for loss.
