Michael Cohen on Trump rallies: 'He's demented and it's showing more often'

Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's former fixer and vocal critic, says the former president's campaign to return to the White House has lost momentum.

“One of the things we've seen is that his rallies aren't what they used to be. He has dementia and it's showing up more often,” Cohen said. told a Salon columnist. “For some reason he's trying to keep talking about how he's a good candidate, but oh well, it's Donald. He's a loser.”

Cohen's jab comes after Vice President Harris noted during a debate with Trump earlier this month that “people start leaving his rallies early out of fatigue and boredom.”

“I'm going to invite you to come to Donald Trump's rally because it's going to be really interesting to watch,” Harris said.

“He'll talk about fictional characters like Hannibal Lecter. He'll talk about windmills causing cancer,” she continued. “And as you will all notice, people are starting to leave his meetings early out of fatigue and boredom. And you are the only one not listening to him.”

“The vice president is right,” Cohen said.

The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign for comment.

Trump's former lawyer told Salon that Trump is increasingly concerned about political violence after the November election because he believes Harris will win by a wide margin.

“I really don't think he can do anything about it,” Cohen said.

He said earlier this week that he could be forced to leave the country if Trump wins, fearing retaliation.

“I'm out of here. I mean, I'm already working on a foreign passport with a completely different name,” he told MSNBC's Nicole Wallace.

Cohen, who is serving time in prison for crimes including lying to Congress and violating federal campaign finance laws, told Salon that his former boss would face the same fate if he lost to Harris.

“He's still staring at prison,” he said.

Trump became the first sitting or former president to be convicted in a criminal trial in May. A New York jury found Cohen guilty of all 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal an alleged affair with an adult film actress during the 2016 campaign, the same charges that sent him to prison.
