Michael Cohen, who previously served as President Trump’s personal attorney, forecasts a shift in Trump’s relationship with tech mogul Elon Musk. He suggests that with Trump no longer a government employee, he may begin pursuing Musk’s financial support.
Cohen shared his thoughts during an MSNBC interview, claiming, “I’ve said from the beginning that this bromance is coming to an end. I’ll take it a step further: Trump is likely to chase after Elon’s wealth, especially since Musk holds the title of the richest person in the world.”
Referring to Trump’s previous interactions with Musk, Cohen noted, “Yes, he has relied on what Musk can offer.” Musk has reportedly invested over $250 million to assist Trump’s 2024 campaign and led efforts to reduce government inefficiency.
Cohen has emerged as a significant critic of Trump, asserting that Trump may try to use Dogecoin to learn from Musk’s business strategies and possibly seek government subsidies for Tesla. He mentioned that Trump is attempting to replicate tactics used by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to consolidate power within his family.
Having served time in prison for crimes committed on Trump’s behalf, Cohen has since distanced himself from the former president, cooperating with investigators and providing testimony to Congress. He remarked that people close to Trump often believe they are unique in their loyalty, despite the reality that it typically only flows one way.
“Everyone believed they were special, including people like [Secretary of Commerce Howard] Lutnick and [Treasury Secretary Scott] Bescent, and even [Secretary of State] Marco Rubio and [Vice President] JD Vance,” he stated.
Cohen added that all of them were under the illusion that they were safe, noting, “Donald sheds light on their mistakes when it really matters.”
In response, White House Communications Director Stephen Chan labeled Cohen as a “deeply disgruntled” individual, accusing him of spreading falsehoods. He emphasized, “Michael Cohen has been convicted of lying and associated crimes; his credibility is nonexistent, and any claims he makes about Trump should be disregarded.”
