Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones Upset Over Son’s CNN Appearance
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are reportedly quite upset after their son, Dylan Douglas, appeared visibly distressed during a recent political discussion on CNN.
During an episode of “Newsnight,” Republican strategist Scott Jennings confronted Dylan with pointed questions regarding the ongoing debate surrounding the government shutdown. This exchange made it difficult for Dylan to maintain his stance that Republicans were entirely responsible for the crisis. The couple felt this was an “unfair and exploitative” situation, arguing that Dylan was not prepared for such a heated argument. According to an insider, this incident left their son feeling both embarrassed and overwhelmed.
Zeta-Jones allegedly expressed to friends that CNN set Dylan up for failure. Meanwhile, Douglas claimed that the network “crossed the line” by making the exchange feel like a form of public humiliation. The couple, in their fury, has reportedly considered “blacklisting the entire network.” One source described the incident as a meltdown for Dylan, noting that he had always been seen as “the golden boy,” protected from such harsh realities.
The confrontation centered around the Senate funding bill and the government shutdown, with Jennings questioning which political party had actually voted to reopen the government. When Dylan attempted to shift focus to cuts in food aid, Jennings rebutted by highlighting that both parties had voted to defund SNAP multiple times.
In the lead-up to Thanksgiving, Senate Democrats continuously extended the government shutdown, causing significant disruptions that affected holiday travel for many Americans. President Trump ultimately signed a funding bill on November 12, ending the longest government shutdown in U.S. history at 43 days.
Requests for comments from Zeta-Jones’ management and Michael Douglas’ representatives have gone unanswered.
