Michael J. Fox says it took some grit to become a Hollywood star in his prime.
When asked if ’80s fame was “harder” to achieve than modern fame, Foxx was candid, admitting to People magazine: “You had to have talent. That helped.” .
“We were working on our acting skills, watching other actors, sitting with other actors and talking about acting and talking about it,” he shared.

Foxx appeared on the sitcom Family Ties for much of the 1980s, best known for his role as Alex P. Keaton. His fame rose when he starred in the Back to the Future trilogy with Christopher Lloyd.

Foxx, who has won five Emmy Awards during her career, received an honorary Oscar in 2022 for her advocacy and research into Parkinson’s disease.
“There’s an expression I mentioned when I was presented with the prestigious Academy Award. Someone said to me the day before… They were talking about winning this award and becoming famous. They said, “You’re a celebrity from the ’80s,” Fox said. It was called. “I thought, ‘Wow, that’s amazing. The ’80s are famous.'” Right? We weren’t.

“We were tougher. We didn’t have social media. We didn’t have any of that crap,” he said. “We were just famous and left to our own resources, and that was it.” [an] a wonderful time. ”
In 2020, Foxx retired from acting due to the progression of Parkinson’s disease. He recently admitted on Entertainment Tonight that he would be happy to return “if something comes along that allows me to address my reality and my challenges.”
