Michael Jordan and UNC icons experienced a strong beginning to the Bill Belichick era

The North Carolina sports legends looked quite delighted during the Tar Heels’ opening drive in the Bill Belichick era.

Michael Jordan, Lawrence Taylor, and Roy Williams were present at TCU on Monday night when Caleb Hood scored an eight-yard touchdown, much to the delight of Chapel Hill alumni.

The ESPN cameras showed a former UNC basketball coach sitting with Jordan and Taylor, both animated as they cheered for the early score. It seemed like Jordan was looking for approval while Taylor gestured toward the field.

Interestingly, both are former players for the Tar Heels.

Next, the cameras panned to ESPN’s Randy Moss, who played under Belichick in New England, as he searched for UNC coach Jordon Hudson.

The officials were clearly pleased with how the festivities kicked off for the Tar Heels. With UNC achieving their first touchdown under Belichick, excitement was in the air as ESPN featured Roy Williams, Michael Jordan, Jordon Hudson, and Randy Moss.

Some other noteworthy attendees at Monday’s game included Miaham, Julius Peppers, Eric Church, Chase Slice, and Blakesnell.

The start of the Chapelville era unfolded pretty much as UNC fans had anticipated, marked by the touchdown drive.

Quarterback Gio Lopez completed all his two pass attempts during the drive, covering a total of 58 yards.

Despite the off-field drama regarding Belichick and Hudson’s relationship, the focus was squarely on the game for the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach, who had taken a year off from coaching football after leaving New England.

“I’ve experienced a lot of opening days, yet each one carries a familiar mix of excitement and uncertainty,” Belichick shared before the game. “As things progress, you tend to feel reassured about certain aspects while still questioning others.”

However, the early joy for Belichick’s team didn’t last long as TCU responded with 20 unanswered points before halftime.
