Michael Jordan Becomes a Special Contributor to NBC Sports’ NBA Coverage

NBC is bringing back the NBA, and they’re enlisting the legendary Michael Jordan to make a statement.

The 62-year-old Jordan, who many consider the best player to ever grace the NBA, will join as a special contributor for NBC Sports.

“I’m really excited about the NBA returning to NBC,” Jordan remarked in a statement. “The NBA on NBC has been a significant part of my journey, and I look forward to contributing to this project. I can’t wait to see everyone when the season kicks off this October.”

Rick Kordera, the president of NBC Sports, mentioned that Jordan is “incredibly proud” to be part of the broadcast team.

“Michael’s legacy is undeniable, both during his playing days and beyond,” Kordera added.

In 2024, the NBA and NBCUniversal finalized an 11-year agreement to air NBA and WNBA games starting with the 2025-2026 season.

“Former players Jamal Crawford and Reggie Miller will take on game analysis roles, while Carmelo Anthony will serve as a studio analyst,” NBC News reported.

NBC has been a staple for NBA broadcasting throughout Jordan’s career, and many fans still feel the network is the true home of the league.

NBC Sports will also bring back John Tesh’s iconic theme, “Roundball Rock,” to evoke nostalgia. Additionally, the network plans to use artificial intelligence to recreate the voice of the late Jim Fagan, who narrated for NBC from 1990 to 2002, for opening sequences and promos,” the company announced.
