Michael Jordan shares his wish to play basketball

Michael Jordan’s Continued Passion for Basketball

Michael Jordan, the legendary player of the Chicago Bulls, seems to be eyeing a return to the sidelines of the NBA. At 62 years old, he recently spoke with NBC’s Mike Tirico, discussing both the sport he loves and his new role as a “special contributor” now that the league is shifting its broadcast partnerships.

During the conversation, Jordan expressed a heartfelt desire to get back on the court. “Honestly, I wish I could take a magic pill today and just put on my shorts and go outside and play a game of basketball,” he shared. That competitive spirit, he noted, is a significant part of who he is, and he finds himself missing it. However, he acknowledged a more practical side. “It’s probably better for me to sit here and chat than risk an injury and find myself in a wheelchair,” he reflected.

In addition to reminiscing about the game, Jordan emphasized his wish to support current players. He believes that understanding success and dedication is crucial and feels that seasoned players like him can impart valuable lessons.

Having stepped away from the game for around two years—after selling his stake in the Charlotte Hornets for a staggering $3 billion in August 2023—Jordan has turned his focus to other ventures, particularly in the world of NASCAR with 23XI Racing.

Jordan’s legacy as the greatest player in NBA history remains intact. He went undefeated in the Finals, won the NBA MVP award five times, and made 14 All-Star appearances throughout his career, primarily with the Bulls before wrapping things up with the Washington Wizards.
