Liberal film director Michael Moore accused Democrats of committing “elder abuse” by continuing to pressure President Biden to stay in the race.
Amid growing calls for Biden to step down, Moore offered his views on the president on MSNBC’s “Eye Man” on Saturday. Despite his previous doubts about Biden, Moore acknowledged that watching his first debate with Donald Trump was “heartbreaking” and asked if anyone was trying to help the president.
“I think the issue here is there’s a kind of elder abuse going on in that Democrats and their associates are pressuring him over and over again to stay, and he comes out and says, ‘I’m staying,’ and his family says, ‘I’m staying,'” Moore said.

He continued, “I don’t know about you guys, but even though I’m a critic of Biden, I watched the debate a week ago and it broke my heart. It was like I was imagining what it would be like if my father was there. I thought to myself: Why is nobody doing something? Why did they put him on stage like this? Who’s taking care of him? Who’s taking care of him now?”

Throughout his appearance, Moore argued that Biden should undergo some kind of medical examination in order to give Americans confidence that Biden could serve another term following the debate.
“Something was wrong that night. We all saw it. We can never forget it. As Richard Pryor and Chico Marx before him said, who will you believe? Me or your own lying eyes? My eyes were not lying and neither were yours,” Moore said.

The liberal film director later insisted he was not yet calling for Biden to resign, but criticized the president’s team for not even considering the idea of testing.
“We need an independent doctor, or a doctor who does a neurological exam and a full medical evaluation. Why don’t they do that? If everything goes well, a lot of issues are resolved and they can say he had a bad night. But they don’t. Why are they putting our country at risk?” Moore asked.
Moore praised Biden for defeating “demons” in 2020 and implementing many progressive policies, but criticized him for his continued support for Israel during its war in Gaza.

“I want to speak to one specific person, and that is President Biden,” Moore told CNN in April.[H]”Right now, I think it’s very likely he won’t be re-elected because of these numbers. He’s losing the young vote. He’s losing the Arab-American vote in Michigan.”

“I’m trying to save Joe Biden,” he continued. “We’re going to lose the election. If President Biden doesn’t turn things around, we’re going to lose the state of Michigan.”
