This is a race the Democrats will lose.
That’s the view of liberal activist and filmmaker Michael Moore, who warned Democrats not to miss their chance to beat former President Donald Trump in November’s presidential election, now that Vice President Kamala Harris is leading the nomination process.
The outspoken and influential Moore told the Guardian that the party was riding high on optimism after Biden decided to withdraw from the race after bowing to unwavering pressure from left-wing figures, including Moore.
“This isn’t just a sugar high or anything like that. [recovering] “Heroin addicts call it the pink cloud,” Moore told the British publication. “You feel very depressed for weeks, and then you’re not depressed very quickly. Now there’s hope, but it’s up to us to blow it up, and we have a history of blowing it up.”

Moore has been there before: In his 2016 film “In Trumpland,” he warned Democrats that Trump would beat Hillary Clinton, saying Trump’s message would appeal to disenfranchised voters in Michigan and other battleground states.
In 2020, he appeared on X, where he said the enthusiasm for Trump was “off the charts” and urged Democrats to come together and defeat the sitting president.
Moore said he was pleased that Harris had chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate and was confident she could do some serious damage to Trump in next month’s debate.
“Once someone gets on that nerve, anything can happen,” Moore said. “On air? Trump might get angry and start talking like a 12-year-old — no disrespect to a 12-year-old — or he might just get up and walk out.”
“I understand people are worried about the sugar high, but Harris and Waltz are capable people. They’re moving slowly and carefully. It’s only been a few weeks. They’ll let us know what they’re going to do and hopefully they’ll make the right decisions. And they’ll make mistakes.”
Michael Moore says continuing to promote Biden after debate is a form of ‘elder abuse’

Moore praised Harris’ decision not to attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress last month, signalling a change of tack while urging her to cater to the wishes of the party’s anti-Israel base.
“Young people hate war and are totally opposed to Biden and his support for it.”
Harris says they need to focus on “affordable housing, student loans, peace and our dying planet.”
Moore said the way to beat Trump is to “keep doing weird and embarrassing things leading up to the debate and then beat him.”
“But nail him with sarcasm, satire and simple ways of pointing out the bizarre and absolute stupidity and insanity of what these two people are talking about. Appeal to them on a common sense level and it doesn’t matter if you’re a Democrat or a Republican.”
Democrats have described the Trump-Vance campaign as “bizarre” as part of new criticism, while the Harris-Waltz campaign has been criticized for disturbing and scripted online videos.

Last month, Moore joined many on the left in calling for Biden to drop out of the race and for Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place.
“Mr. President, may I ask you to take one more brave and bold action?” Moore wrote. Substack Article Days before Biden’s withdrawal, he accused Democrats of committing “elder abuse” by continuing to pressure Biden to stay in the race.
“She has three and a half months (an eternity in politics) to show the American people her smarts, her strength, and her heart,” he continued. “She’s brave, she’s compassionate, and she’s unstoppable. She’ll have the power to issue major executive orders that will help the middle class, protect the environment, and restore fundamental rights for women.”
