Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. of the Falcons and his wife, Olivia, have some exciting news to share.
Just two days after revealing that they’re going to be parents for the first time, Penix secured his second consecutive victory against the Saints, making a strong return to the starting position following a significant knee injury last year.
“Hubby baby daddy,” Olivia wrote in an Instagram Story, which featured a clip of her husband performing his signature bow-and-arrow celebration after the Falcons’ win.
Penix completed 15 of 20 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons’ 45-24 triumph on Monday night. He had made a comeback last week, contributing to a 35-14 win over Green Bay.
Before the game at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, the couple was seen embracing on the sidelines, as captured in a video Olivia shared on Instagram.
On Saturday, they announced their pregnancy in a joint Instagram post, revealing they are expecting their first child in the spring of 2027.
The couple shared a heartwarming maternity video of themselves dancing while holding a sonogram image, captioned, “Upgraded to mom and dad.”
Penix and Olivia, who played women’s soccer at the University of Nevada, got married on May 2 after getting engaged the previous Christmas Eve.
In May 2022, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology.
With Penix back in action, the Falcons’ performance has noticeably improved. After suffering a season-ending left ACL tear last November, his return seems to have brought a new level of cohesiveness to the team.
Over the last two games with Penix, Atlanta has racked up 918 total yards and scored 80 points. In contrast, they managed only 524 yards and 16 points in the first two weeks with Cooper Rush largely leading the offense, according to NFL.com.
The Falcons (2-2) are set to host the Ravens (3-1) this Sunday night.
