Prosecutors in Brooklyn report that actor Michael Pitt, known for his role in “Boardwalk Empire,” has been accused of sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend. There’s also an allegation that he attacked her with cement blocks and pieces of wood.
The 44-year-old actor was taken into custody on Friday at Brooklyn Supreme Court on two charges of first-degree sexual abuse, among other related accusations connected to four domestic incidents said to have occurred between April 2020 and August 2021.
Law enforcement officials stated that the violent events took place at the actor’s home in Bushwick, where he lived with his then-girlfriend.
Pitt, who starred in “Murder by Numbers,” allegedly forced the victim to engage in sexual acts, and on another occasion, it is claimed that he assaulted her with a wooden plank.
In June 2021, the indictment claims that Pitt also assaulted her using cinderblocks.
According to court documents, he allegedly strangled his former girlfriend on August 7, 2021.
Earlier, in July 2022, Pitt was arrested on charges related to assaults and petty theft, reportedly attacking another man multiple times.
Later that year, he was hospitalized and labeled as “emotionally disturbed” after reportedly throwing objects at people from a rooftop.
In the latest set of charges, Pitt faces first-degree criminal charges, third-degree criminal charges, second-degree assault, second-degree attempted assault, and second-degree strangulation.
Pitt entered a not guilty plea before Judge Joanne Quinones, who set his bail at $100,000—an amount he has since posted following his arrest.
A spokesperson commented, “Unfortunately, in today’s world, individuals like Mr. Pitt—talented professionals—might not reflect on their actions. We’re eager to demonstrate his innocence through evidence, not media coverage.”
Pitt is scheduled to make another court appearance on June 17th.
