Michael Rapaport Shares Reasons for No Longer Referring to Trump as 'D*ck Stain'

Michael Rapaport Adjusts His Approach to Trump for Hostage Reasons

Actor and comedian Michael Rapaport has decided to stop using the nickname “Dick Stein” when referring to President Donald Trump. He mentioned this during an appearance on the Hate to Break It to Ya Podcast, explaining that discussions with families of hostages taken during the October 7 attack influenced his decision.

Rapaport stated, “I recognized that he was the key to freeing the hostages who had been held for an extended period. I could insult him, sure, but now it’s more important for me to focus on bringing those hostages home rather than resorting to name-calling.” He elaborated on his experiences with the families of the hostages, saying he fought and prayed hard for their return, which made it feel inappropriate to be disrespectful to Trump.

On January 15, 2025, Trump declared that a hostage and ceasefire agreement had been achieved between Israel and Hamas, suggesting this was the result of extensive diplomatic efforts. This agreement, which involved the United States, Qatar, and Egypt, resulted in the release of hostages from the October 7 incident.

Rapaport acknowledged he often faces questions about why he no longer uses that nickname, but he urged people to feel free to express their criticism of Trump directly. “If you want to criticize him, go ahead. You have your platforms,” he said.

He emphasized that it was enough for him to advocate for the hostages’ release and support Israel’s right to exist. “Those were my priorities,” he added.

While he still holds critical views of Trump, Rapaport feels that it’s more crucial to avoid personal insults in light of the situation with the hostages. “I figured it was wiser not to show disrespect under these circumstances. Sure, I may still be critical and frustrated, but that’s different from being outright rude.” He reflected that his previous name-calling had occurred many times on social media.
