Greg Scruggs was hired as Michigan’s defensive line coach on March 6th.
Ten days later he was arrested.
A former NFL defensive lineman was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Ann Arbor police arrested Scruggs around 3 a.m., and head coach Sherone Moore announced Scruggs’ suspension later in the afternoon.

Coach Moore said of Scruggs’ “unfortunate mistake”: “He made no excuses and took responsibility for his actions.”
Scruggs joins a staff that has seen a lot of turnover. Moore replaced Jim Harbaugh after nine seasons, his last season ending with a coveted national championship.
The university also named Wink Martindale, who spent the past two seasons in the same role with the New York Giants, as defensive coordinator.

Scruggs led Wisconsin’s defensive line last season. He served as an assistant with the Cincinnati Bearcats for two seasons before becoming the New York Jets’ assistant defensive line coach starting in 2022.
He was a defensive lineman at Louisville from 2008 to 2011, playing three years with the program while Moore began his coaching career as a graduate assistant.

Scruggs, a native of Cincinnati, was drafted by Seattle in the seventh round in 2012 and played in 18 games over four seasons with the Seahawks and Chicago Bears.
