Michigan fans mock VP-elect Vance after alma mater Ohio State’s upset loss to Michigan

Vice President-elect J.D. Vance on Saturday praised the Ohio State Buckeyes after their shocking loss to rival University of Michigan. The internet's reaction wasn't too kind.

Vance posted on X, stating that the Buckeyes played like “champions” and that he was “proud” of them.

“To the seniors on that team at OSU, I know it's disappointing to lose four games to Michigan, but you guys have acted like champions throughout your college career. I speak for just about every fan. We're proud of you! ” Vance wrote.

The Buckeyes crushed the game as a 21-point favorite, losing to their top rival for the fourth straight year. The University of Michigan's 2024 team entered the game with a record of 6-5, the worst record the program has had in years.

Going into this game, Ohio State was ranked No. 2 with a 10-2 record and was in contention for a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game and a spot in the College Football Playoff. Both of those goals are now problematic for coach Ryan Day and his team.

The Buckeyes were also involved in a scuffle with Michigan players after the game.

Vance pledged his allegiance to the team and was rewarded with many shots.

“Ohio State sucks, you suck too!” one user wrote.

Another user said Vance's post made him reconsider his endorsement as Trump's running mate.

“For the first time, I had a conflict of opinion with JD. [minute]perhaps Trump should have taken a different path for the role of Vice President!,” the user wrote.

Another user questioned Vance's praise for players who start brawling after a match.

“'Act Like a Champion' Didn't they just start a brawl and get pepper sprayed by competitive Michigan players?” one user wrote.

Several law enforcement officers were also involved in quelling the fight. Videos shared on social media showed players being pepper sprayed, with both Michigan State and Ohio State players appearing to be in pain.

Immediately after the game, Michigan running back Karel Mullins told FOX Sports in an on-field interview that the incident was “bad for the sport.”

“It was a great game. You hate to see something like that happen after a game. It's bad for the sport, it's bad for the sport.” college football. But once the game is over, you have to learn how to lose. You can't pick a fight just because you lost a match. ”

Mr. Vance previously revealed that he had told Mr. Trump that his loyalty to the Buckeyes could affect Mr. Trump's chances of winning in the key battleground state of Michigan. Ta.

The Trump-Vance ticket ended up easily passing through Michigan.

Mr. Vance also suggested in the interview that Mr. Trump and Mr. Vance would attend Saturday's game if they won the election.

“Okay, let's go to the Ohio State vs. Michigan game. Assuming we win, I'll get a pretty good ticket as vice president-elect, and I'll be in a celebratory mood.” ” Vance said on Outkick. “And, look, it's going to be a big game this year. I think it will determine the final seed for the College Football Playoff.”

“That means both teams actually have a chance to make the playoffs. I know some people don't think as highly of the University of Michigan this year, but it's always been a good program so never I don't know. So that's what we're going to do.'' Neither Trump nor Vance attended Saturday's game between Ohio State and Michigan.
