A Michigan grandmother allegedly helped her granddaughter beat a classmate at her elementary school, officials said.
Mount Morris County Police said a grandmother and granddaughter were dropped off at McMoNeagle Elementary School Thursday for a behavioral rally. WNEM reported.
The grandmother witnessed another girl with whom her granddaughter was not getting along, so she and her granddaughter followed the girl to the bathroom, where the grandmother allegedly held her down while her granddaughter hit her.

Jamal Bransford, a spokesperson for McMonagle Elementary School, said in a statement to WNEM that there were no other injuries following the incident and that administrators were wondering how the grandmother managed to circumvent security protocols and gain unauthorized access to school grounds. He said he was investigating whether he did so.
“On Thursday, April 18, an unfortunate incident occurred at McMonagle Elementary School where the grandparents of a student circumvented security protocols and gained unauthorized access to school property,” Bransford said. “The Mount Morris Township Police Department immediately investigated this incident. It is important to emphasize that no other children at the school were involved or harmed during this incident.”

“The safety and security of our students is our top priority,” he continued. “Our school administrators are diligently implementing all necessary measures to ensure that such security breaches are prevented in the future.”
The grandmother was taken into police custody and is being held at the Genesee County Jail.
