Michigan Lt. Gov.: 'I can't wait to send Donald Trump home for good' 

Michigan Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II (Democratic) expressed optimism for her state late on Election Day, saying she expected the state to win electors for Vice President Harris.

“The volunteer effort in Michigan is the largest we've ever seen,” he said Tuesday night on Comedy Central's “The Daily Show.” “We built the equipment we needed to win at Michigan.”

Gilchrist and host Jon Stewart referenced former President Trump's comments about Detroit, and Stewart said he was confused as to how the race could be so close in the state. They also addressed President Trump's comments regarding the Arab community, as the state is known for hosting gatherings from Arab countries.largest majority of Arabs.

Gilchrist said Michiganders are using the offensive comments as motivation to turn the state blue because voters “don't want a president who disrespects them.”

“To come here and insult us and say we are incompetent, [big things]And because it's offensive, I can't wait to see Donald Trump go home for good,” he said.

Michigan is one of the key battleground states for the 2024 presidential election, with 15 electoral votes. The polls ended at 8 p.m. ET, so it's still unclear which candidate has an advantage.
