Michigan receiver alleges teammates coerced Sherrone Moore during scandal involving affair

Michigan State’s Turmoil Following Sherone Moore’s Dismissal

The situation at Michigan State continues to spiral further into chaos in the aftermath of Sherone Moore’s departure.

Wide receiver Anthony Simpson, who made the switch from Massachusetts to Michigan State last year, recently entered the transfer portal. He took to social media to share what he described as an “intimidating” environment under Moore, claiming he was “mistreated” in terms of playing opportunities.

Moore, 39, was fired on December 10 due to an “inappropriate” relationship with an executive assistant, Paige Shiver. On the same day, he was also charged with assault by the Pittsfield Police Department.

In his now-deleted tweet, Simpson expressed concern about how scandals impacted players’ chances at success. “If I kept quiet, no one would have known I was part of a situation that affected my team,” he stated. He mentioned that he attempted to stay with the team, but was told there was no spot for him. “God has a plan for all of us, and I’m excited to see what lies ahead,” he added.

He further highlighted his talent, saying he was the best slot receiver but felt he faced unfair treatment. He referenced threats made against Moore from players and staff, which he believed hindered Moore’s ability to perform.

Another Michigan receiver, Semaj Morgan, commented on the situation, suggesting misinformation is rampant. “People just tell stories and skew perceptions,” he noted.

Former Wolverines joined in the conversation, with one former wideout, Christian Dixon, wishing others could grasp the depth of the situation. “I wish everyone knew even a fraction of what he truly was saying,” he remarked, accompanied by laughing emojis.

Michigan State Athletics had not responded to these allegations as of Wednesday.

Simpson announced his transfer to Toledo via social media.

Reports have circulated that the circumstances surrounding Moore’s dismissal were widely known, with some referring to his scandal as the “worst-kept” secret at Michigan.

Currently, Moore faces multiple charges, including felony burglary and stalking. His first court appearance is slated for January 22.

According to prosecutors, during an incident, Moore allegedly entered Shiver’s home, brandished a butter knife and scissors from the kitchen, and made alarming threats about self-harm.

Moore’s bail has been set at $25,000. As part of his release conditions, he must wear a GPS monitor and avoid any contact with Shiver.

His wife, Kelly, reached out to emergency services, expressing concern for his mental state after his dismissal, stating she feared he might harm himself.
