This award was no joke.
A Michigan man thought he had been scammed when he won $100,000 on a Powerball ticket on April Fool’s Day.
Jeremiah Maher, 43, matched four white balls and a Powerball to win a six-figure prize in the April 1st Michigan Lottery drawing.
Officials said he also purchased a “power play” option for $1, which doubled his $50,000 prize.
“When I looked at my numbers after the drawing, I thought someone was playing an April Fool’s prank,” Maher said. told the Michigan Lottery.
“Seeing my numbers come out in the drawing was such a surreal feeling. Without a doubt, it’s the most exciting April Fool’s Day ever,” he added.

He bought his winning ticket at a local 7-Eleven on Ecorse Road in his hometown of Taylor, just outside Detroit.
Maher received his prize at Lottery headquarters in Lansing.
He said he plans to use his winnings to buy a new home.
