A Michigan woman who had been missing since 2017 was found in a motel room after police heard her screaming and crying.
State police announced on Platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that a woman managed to call her stepmother on Monday and tell her she was being held against her will at a motel in Inkster, Michigan .
Detectives have determined that a woman in her 30s is currently being held at the Evergreen Motel in Inkster. When detectives and police officers responded to the motel, they heard her screaming and crying coming from the motel room.
Police forced their way into the room and found her alone.

The woman was transported to Beaumont-Dearborn for medical evaluation and questioning by detectives. She has been reunited with her family and is receiving counseling.
Police searched the motel room and found drugs, cell phones and guns.
Suspects have been identified, but no one is in custody.
The State Police Human Trafficking and Kidnapping Unit is conducting an investigation to determine if this was a human trafficking incident.

Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw told WXYZ: “We’re going to take a look at what’s next: Did a crime like human trafficking actually occur, or was it a domestic violence situation? I will ask her if this is the case,” he told WXYZ. “I don’t want to use the term her abduction to mean someone grabbed her and took her to a place. What started out as a relationship ended up being held against her will and trafficked. It might turn out like this.”
