Mick Ralphs, Rock Guitarist, Passes Away at 81

Mick Ralphs, renowned guitarist for Bad Company and Mott The Hoople, has died at the age of 81. His family’s spokesman confirmed the sad news to Rolling Stone on June 23rd. Ralphs was a pivotal figure in classic rock music, remembered for his numerous hits like “Can’t Get Enough,” “Good Lovin’ Gone Bad,” and “Makin’ Love.” His contributions to the industry will be celebrated for years to come.

Paul Rogers, the lead singer of Bad Company and a longtime friend of Ralphs, expressed his grief in a statement. “When I heard Mick passed, it felt like my heart just hit the ground,” he shared. “He left us an incredible legacy of music and memories. He was not just my friend and collaborator but also an exceptionally talented guitarist with a fantastic sense of humor.”

Rogers reminisced about their last conversation, which, despite being just a few days ago, was filled with laughter. “I like to think there are many memories of Mick that will keep bringing smiles. Susie, his wife, I hope to see him in heaven,” he added.

Mick not only made a significant impact with Bad Company, being part of their first six albums, but he was also a founding member of Mott the Hoople, a band that gained recognition partly through David Bowie’s influence. Recently, Bad Company was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an honor that will be celebrated this November.

Known for his humble demeanor and remarkable musical skill, Ralphs stepped back from the industry in 2016 after suffering a stroke. Reports state he spent his final year in a nursing home following his hospitalization.

Left behind are his wife Susie Chavas, two children, and three stepchildren. Fans and fellow musicians are paying tribute to his legacy across social media, honoring the profound impact he had on so many lives.
