Middle-Class Women are Furious About Lindsay Clancy. So, Share the Photos

Below is State of the Day, a morning newsletter.

__________

Greetings, Dear Reader,

I’ve had enough.

RELEASE THE CLANCY CRIME PHOTOS

There’s a lot of chatter about “postpartum psychosis,” but perhaps we should focus more on something like middle-class woman psychosis.

The trial of Lindsay Clancy seems it might end in a hung jury. With nine women and three men on the jury, at least a couple of women apparently wore pink to show their support for her.

I’m not diving deeply into the case details. They’re pretty overwhelming and seem to indicate that Lindsay Clancy deliberately planned the deaths of her children. As for whether her mental illness provides any justification, I’d suggest talking to some folks on death row or checking out interviews with serial killers. Do you think someone like Jeffrey Dahmer or Ted Bundy was of sound mind?

People who commit murder, even in a moment of passion, typically aren’t thinking rationally.

Today, I learned that the jury—likely headed for a stalemate—was shown graphic crime scene and autopsy images. If you’ve never seen strangulation, let me tell you: it’s not pretty. The face is left in a horrifying gasp, swollen and distressed. Eyes wide, possibly bulging, and the complexion can be, well, quite alarming from the strain of those final moments.

Now imagine those faces belonged to children aged 5, 2, and 8 months.

That, presumably, is what the women on the jury witnessed, along with all the other evidence, including Lindsay’s internet searches meant to ensure that her husband would be away long enough for her to act. Her own words describing the act also complicate things.

While most of that evidence is accessible publicly, a lot of the crime scene photos and autopsy images remain private.

There’s a clear reason why some people react strongly when abortion abolitionists display graphic imagery in public. I’ve been watching recent videos of these activists. Some don’t even show pictures; they just hold a sign stating “abortion is murder,” provoking intense reactions.

Recently, two conservative correspondents ventured to the streets to gather opinions about the Clancy trial. They found a distinct difference between how men and women viewed the case. Many women defended Lindsay, citing “TikTok,” with one suggesting she was “very sleep deprived.” Another even claimed that Lindsay’s husband, Patrick, should face charges for negligence for not having her committed.

In contrast, the men they interviewed believed she should go to prison.

The striking thing in these videos is how privileged everyone appears. These women live in considerable comfort, sipping $7 iced coffees while acknowledging the influence of TikTok on their judgment.

Life seems incredibly tranquil and secure for them. Yet still, they seem to be losing touch with reality.

So … let’s release those photos. It feels like there’s an availability bias at play. They’re mostly absorbing what they see on TikTok and from various gender activists in quick, digestible clips.

Release the images of those small, gasping faces.

Make them face the harsh reality.
