UN report finds Palestinian detainees mistreated in Israeli prisons
Palestinian detainees have been tortured and ill-treated in Israeli custody, according to a UN report released on Wednesday. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights report looked into Palestinian detentions from October to the end of June and found that detainees were sometimes incarcerated without clear cause and typically held in prolonged, secret detention lasting anywhere from weeks to months. Netanyahu speaks defiantly after attacks on Lebanon and Iran
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defiantly said Wednesday that Israel had achieved its war objectives and defeated Iranian proxies in the Middle East after senior Hezbollah and Hamas leaders were killed. In a video address delivered hours after a suspected Israeli attack in Iran killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh at his Tehran home, Netanyahu said Israel had succeeded in striking several Iranian sites.
