Mikal Bridges block on Trae Young in closing seconds secures Knicks’ win

Mikal Bridge struggled to contain the younger stages most nights. But he closed him when it mattered most.

Young scored 38 points and earned 19 assists in a 149-148 victory over the Hawks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night, leading the Atlanta Wild Comeback to force overtime in the fourth quarter.

After Jalen Brunson delves into the jumper and advances the Knicks with 11 seconds of overtime with the final score, Young threatens to break the Knicks' heart again.

However, the Bridges blocked Young's floater and despite the Hawks grabbed the rebound, Georges Nian's three-pointer was turned off, and the Knicks survived.

“His determination, determination, will, hope, he plays the game after the game,” coach Tom Thibodeau said of the bridge. “And you can get the first one, so the tray is a load to deal with. [screen] There's the right and the second one, there's the third one, there's the one to keep fighting and make the decision to keep doing it over and over again. That's a lot of screens you're fighting for. There's no good enough to say about him sacrificing all the games for his team and what it means to win. ”

Bridge added 11 points.

“Help everyone try to win the game,” Bridges said of the final stop. “He made it difficult for everyone.”

The wait time for OG Anunoby to return will last at least until after the All-Star break.

He missed out on Wednesday's victory. This is the fifth straight game he was out when the team lost to the Lakers on February 1st.

The Knicks listed him as having doubts in the game – the same designation he had for Tuesday's victory over the Pacers – and Thibodeau said he was a game time decision , Anunoby was not suitable.

He didn't warm up on the court before the game, so it appears he wasn't that close.

It wouldn't have been much point to rush Anunoby back for the final Knicks of the Wednesday clash, break.

Instead, he will spend another week recovering before the Knicks' next game, the Bulls, on February 20th.

“That's every day,” Thibodeau said before Wednesday's game. “It's tolerant. Look at work out, how he feels the next day, how he reacts.
