Ahead of the vote, Prime Minister Boris Johnson issued a lengthy statement on social media acknowledging that he was struggling following the controversial spending bill he negotiated on behalf of his party before Christmas.

“The American people demand a shake-up and a return to fiscal health. That's why the people of our great country gave President Trump control of the White House and both houses of Congress.” he began.

“We do not deserve to hold power if we do not deliver on our campaign promise of fiscal responsibility. The national debt is a grave threat to America's economy and national security, and no issue better exemplifies Congressional failure.” ” and aims to “weaponize government” over the next two years, “highlighting the opportunity for meaningful spending reforms to eliminate trillions of dollars in waste, fraud, and abuse and end fiscal bankruptcy.”

In addition to advancing President-elect Donald Trump's policies, he pledged to take three actions:

1. Establish a working group of independent experts, not corrupted by lobbyists or special interests, to assist DOGE and us in implementing government-recommended reforms and spending reforms to protect U.S. taxpayers. Cooperate with the committee of

2. Authorize that working group to review existing audits of federal agencies and entities prepared by Congress and issue a report to my office for public disclosure.

3. Push aggressively, including by providing additional resources as necessary, to House committees to expose irresponsible or illegal conduct and to hold accountable government agencies and individuals who weaponize the government against the American people. We request that the government conduct a review of its approval and expenditures.
