A vote on House Speaker Mike Johnson to resign will be held next week.

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia announced Wednesday that she plans to file a motion to resign against House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Greene attended a press conference in front of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, along with U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.). Both men said they would file a motion next week, criticizing Johnson after he received support from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.).

Democrats promised to protect him from voting.

Mike Johnson currently holds a negative approval rating, according to the Real Clear Politics average.

The unfavorable rating was 31.4%, and the favorable rating was 27.6%.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) is trying to save his job and rally House Democrats to block a motion to resign next week, but he maintains a negative approval rating.

Johnson’s approval rating is -3.5, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.
