Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Friday that House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) is betraying conservative ideals and working with Democrats to pass the Ukraine aid agenda supported by President Joe Biden. Having passed it, he declared that he no longer represented the Republican House majority.
In an unprecedented move, Prime Minister Johnson this week worked with House Democrats to force funding for the Ukraine Border Defense Fund ahead of a full vote in the House of Commons on Saturday.
- Thursday: Prime Minister Johnson makes history by relying on Democrats on the House Rules Committee to pass the proposed rules in the House over majority opposition.
- Friday: Democrats took control of the House of Commons to help Mr. Johnson clear key procedural hurdles on proposed rules to set up a floor vote on Saturday. 165 Democrats and only 151 Republicans voted “yes.”
“Democrats are now voting en masse to pass rules written by Republicans,” said PBS reporter Lisa Desjardins. Posted “A show of support for Ukraine and Johnson. And incredibly rare. I don’t remember seeing a sight like this before.”
House Rule 316-94 passed
The foreign aid package clears important procedural hurdles.
The House is scheduled to vote tomorrow on three aid bills (Ukraine, Israel, Indo-Pacific) and a “sidecar” bill that would effectively ban TikTok.

Democrats have a reason to bail out Johnson: He’s not former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. “McCarthy was incompetent and dishonest.” Said Congressman Dan Kildee (D-Mich.) said, “Johnson is incompetent.”
Breitbart News exclusively reported Wednesday that Johnson’s support for Ukraine was overturned by his top policy adviser, a former lobbyist whose clients include a number of major corporations whose clients have issued corporate statements indicating some interest in the war.
Mr. Johnson’s policy director, Dan Ziegler, was a lobbyist at Williams & Jensen before Mr. Johnson was elected speaker of the House last year and joined the House as his top policy aide. He had previously worked for Mr. Johnson in another capacity, but he left the company to become a lobbyist and amassed a client list that included some of the top companies. Some of the companies appeared to have a financial interest in Congress passing aid to Ukraine. The lobbying firm he worked for represented many top companies. Lobbying disclosures revealed that Mr. Ziegler represented many of these companies. This includes companies that have issued corporate statements about the war in Ukraine or issued press statements or other public guidance that could affect their business operations.
…
Ziegler is not the only member of Johnson’s inner circle with problems. Several other staff members working for Mr. Johnson also have a series of background issues, and it is unclear at this point whether Mr. Johnson himself is aware of all of them. Either way, this raises serious questions about his management of Congress and his handling of major legislative proposals like the foreign aid plan in Congress this week. And this undermines the explanation offered by some Johnson defenders that Johnson is simply having trouble managing. They have a one-seat majority, and that won’t change even if he resigns and Republicans choose a new speaker.
The Breitbart News investigation included an investigation into lobbying, interviews with numerous well-connected insiders (most of whom would not speak on the record for fear of retribution), and aggressive questioning of the Speaker’s office and its staff. This is the result of extensive interrogation (including cross-examination). Top aides. Here, for the first time, you’ll learn how globalists undermined the America First movement from within Chairman Johnson’s office, and how the chairman himself launched attacks on conservatives and supporters of former President Donald Trump. revealed the inside story of how they allowed globalists to be scorched. They are holding him accountable and trying to block four foreign aid plans he outlined Monday night and introduced Wednesday. He will hold a vote in the House on Saturday night on the plan, which would abandon border security entirely and instead push tens of billions of dollars in U.S. tax dollars to go to foreign countries such as Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. I plan to do it. This latest episode comes amid a series of recent betrayals by the Chairman – recent government funding plans and last week’s reauthorization of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which does not require a warrant for surveillance of Americans. This further irritates America First conservatives. . There have been calls for his resignation from top conservative Republicans, such as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), but if necessary, Despite saying he was prepared to move a resolution to remove Johnson by force, Johnson tripled his efforts. In addition to completely ignoring conservatives aligned with former President Donald Trump who have publicly criticized the effort, staffers like Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and allies to attack them to achieve their goals and move the issue forward. That this radical agenda be passed by Congress. As Breitbart News reported early Wednesday, Mr. McCaul launched a no-holds-barred attack on Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) over his support for Ukraine. Mr McCaul is one of Mr Johnson’s most powerful allies. approved immediately Mr Johnson introduced the foreign aid framework without even reading the plan, as it had not yet been introduced at the time he publicly supported it.A day later, he finally goes to the chairman’s office. Publication of bill text.
Watch — Zelensky: Chairman Johnson told me he would “do whatever it takes to help Ukraine” (starts at about 1:22)
