House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) had kind words for far-left CNN host Jake Tapper on Wednesday after the cameras appeared to go black.
“You’re always fair,” Johnson said in an exchange heard by Breitbart News shortly after Johnson’s lengthy appearance on CNN. Reed with Jake Tapper.
Mr. Johnson joined Mr. Tapper remotely from outside the House chamber at the Capitol as a small group of reporters looked on. He said in an interview that he had known Tapper, a left-wing partisan known for spreading false claims, for a long time.
Reports last month suggested that Tapper was one of CNN’s top choices as CNN’s new CEO evaluates ratings and on-air talent. Breitbart News’ John Nolte writes:
A spokesperson for Jake Tapper insists that “stories surrounding his firing are false.” After nearly a decade of this stuff from election meddler Tapper and his CNN…
…Let’s go ahead and assume he’s telling the truth now.
Johnson used his CNN appearance to promote a foreign aid package that President Joe Biden endorsed Wednesday that would send tens of billions of dollars in aid from U.S. taxpayers to Ukraine. Prime Minister Boris Johnson had previously opposed funding, but since reversing in March he has made funding to Ukraine a priority.
The embattled speaker made similar high-profile reversals on the Foreign Intelligence and Espionage Act, supporting the FISA extension passed in early April.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has threatened to oust Johnson as speaker, and the move appears to be gaining momentum. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) publicly endorsed Greene on Tuesday.
