Mike Kafka was completely fine with Cam Skattebo's WWE appearance.

Interim head coach Mike Kafka was aware that rookie running back Cam Skatebo, who is recovering from ankle surgery, would be performing at WWE’s “Monday Night Raw” event at Madison Square Garden. Surprisingly, Kafka didn’t mind Skatebo’s participation, even though it led to some confusion when Skatebo mixed up the wrestler Dominik Mysterio with another personality during the event.

Kafka described the event as a rookie outing, where the support staff organizes activities to help newcomers bond. “I thought that was amazing,” he said, noting the unique atmosphere created during the staged fight. “You could feel his energy, even through your screen,” he added, appreciating how the event engaged the community.

Despite criticism on social media suggesting that Skatebo was endangering his recovery by mingling with wrestlers, Kafka reassured everyone about Skatebo’s safety. “I trust him and our medical staff to look after him responsibly,” he remarked.

As for the team dynamics, Jameis Winston is set to be the backup quarterback this Sunday, and Jackson Dart is anticipated to complete concussion protocol in time for the game against the Lions. Meanwhile, cornerback Paulson Adebo’s inability to practice has raised concerns, as he missed previous games due to a knee issue.

Other players, including Kayvon Thibodeau (shoulder) and Darius Slayton (hamstring), also missed practice, along with a few others. Conversely, some players who missed last week’s game due to various injuries have returned to practice, albeit in a limited capacity.

In roster news, RB Eric Gray’s situation has now opened a three-week window for him to return, as he has not played this season due to a knee injury. Additionally, OLB Tomon Fox has been re-signed to the practice squad.

When asked about contacting former Giants head coach Brian Daboll, Kafka confirmed that they have communicated, but chose to keep the details private out of respect.
