Lindell Refuses to Concede Minnesota Gubernatorial Primary
MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, the Republican candidate for governor in Minnesota, is not ready to concede the primary election against Lisa Demuth. Reports indicate he insists on counting every last vote.
When asked about conceding if the Associated Press declared Demuth the winner, Lindell stated, “I have no intention of giving up on this race until the votes are counted.” He questioned the validity of the Associated Press’s call altogether.
“There are still 265,000 votes to be counted,” Lindell emphasized, noting that he is trailing by about 18,000 votes. He expressed determination, stating, “I’m not going to give up on this election until the votes are counted. That’s nonsense.”
As it stands, with 99% of ballots tallied, Demuth leads with 179,656 votes, capturing 43.4% of the total, while Lindell has received 134,272 votes, accounting for 32.5%. The Associated Press confirmed the results late Tuesday.
Investigative reporter Kirsten Swanson from KSTP-TV shared on social media that “Lindell will not budge,” adding that his team is looking into alleged irregularities in the vote counts.
Lindell has garnered support from former President Donald Trump and has previously discussed controversial ideas, like offering amnesty to undocumented immigrants if he is elected governor. In an interview, he mentioned plans for a six-month amnesty allowing them conditional work visas.
He elaborated, explaining that he understands that some individuals might fear deportation and thus might want to stay in the shadows, which complicates their circumstances.
On social media, Demuth expressed her gratitude for being the Republican nominee, stating, “It is a great honor to be the Republican candidate for governor of Minnesota. Today was a big milestone for this campaign, but it’s not over yet.”
In response to Lindell’s refusal to concede, some, like gun control activist David Hogg and former Congressman Adam Kinzinger, took to social media. Hogg humorously questioned whether Lindell had checked for any missing votes under his pillow, a dig at his MyPillow brand.
Kinzinger also commented sympathetically, referring to Lindell with a tone of pity. Another user humorously suggested that Lindell would need a bigger pillow to cope with his predicament.
Various responses continued to circulate online, including from Town Hall columnist Dustin Grage, who pointed out his discovery of an anomaly regarding Lindell’s amnesty proposal, questioning its implications on the campaign.
