Mike Rogers Highlights Excitement in Michigan Senate Race
Mike Rogers, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate from Michigan, shared his thoughts in an interview that there’s a “whole new level of excitement” surrounding his campaign.
During the conversation with host Matthew Boyle, he referenced a recent opinion poll conducted by the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, which surveyed 600 registered voters between May 5 and 8, 2025. The results indicated that Rogers has garnered 61.3% support among voters, compared to Rep. Bill Huizenga, who has 16.5%, leaving 22.2% of respondents undecided.
Rogers mentioned that he has been either leading or neck-and-neck with leading Democratic candidates for the Senate. He expressed optimism, stating, “The fact that we are leading and/or connected with major candidates is truly great news for us.” He pointed out that last week brought renewed momentum as they started recruiting supporters from across the state, preparing to officially introduce their team, which includes representatives from all 83 counties.
“We lost this race by an average of 230 votes per county. That’s around 17,000 votes out of 5.6 million cast. So when we saw these numbers, we thought, ‘Hey, I know how to make up for this,'” Rogers remarked.
He outlined his campaign’s focus areas, including employment, the economy, and education, while also addressing issues related to crime and drugs, specifically mentioning cities like Flint, Detroit, Jackson, and Kalamazoo.
Rogers is optimistic about the momentum, believing they have the right message and are connecting with the right people, looking towards a successful outcome for Michigan this year. He commented on the Democratic opposition, suggesting their claims of moderation and cooperation are “nonsense.” He added, “We know it’s nonsense. It never happens that way at all. The silver lining is we’ve never seen a Democratic primary this competitive.” He believes the primary will reveal the true nature of the candidates involved.
