Mike Vrabel gives concerning update on Will Campbell's knee injury

Mike Vrabel Comments on Will Campbell’s Injury Status

On Monday, Mike Vrabel shared some concerning news regarding the availability of rookie offensive tackle Will Campbell for the Patriots. Campbell exited the Week 12 matchup against the Bengals due to a knee injury.

After the Patriots’ narrow 26-20 victory, Vrabel expressed doubts about Campbell’s chances of playing in the upcoming game against the Giants on “Monday Night Football.” He said, “I can’t imagine he’ll be ready.”

Vrabel elaborated, noting the team was dealing with several injuries. “Yesterday didn’t go well for us,” he remarked. “We’ve got players who missed the game and won’t be available this coming Monday. We’re hoping to see some of them return, but I just can’t see Will making it back that quickly. That injury looks like it will need more recovery time.”

Sunday’s game was particularly tough for the Patriots, with Campbell, the fourth overall pick from LSU this year, suffering a right knee injury in the third quarter. It was a rough sight as he was carried off with a towel covering his head.

Additionally, offensive lineman Jared Wilson also sustained an ankle injury during the game.

Reports from Monday suggested that Campbell may have suffered an MCL sprain in his right knee. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, an MRI is scheduled to provide more clarity on the situation.

With the Patriots at 10-2 and aiming for a playoff spot, Rapoport mentioned that Campbell could potentially land on Injured Reserve, with hopes of returning when it matters most.

The Patriots will have their bye week following their prime-time game against the Giants on December 1. They will resume play on December 14 against the Bills, who are currently vying for the AFC East title.
