Miki Sudo sets new record at Nathan’s Famous Hotdog Eating Contest

Who said it took Joey Chestnut to break the record in Nathan’s famous hot dog eating contest?

On Thursday, reigning champion Miki Sudo won the women’s title at Nathan’s annual hot dog eating contest, downing a record-breaking 51 in 10 minutes.

Mayoi Ebihara of Tokyo came in second with 37 fish, and Michelle Lesko of Arizona came in third with 23.5 fish.

“I think it was a bit of a struggle,” Sudo said immediately after his win. “51 is a milestone.”

Sudo, a New York native, beat out a beef-eating competitor by a wide margin during the traditional Fourth of July event.

She first competed in 2014 and has been at the top for nine years now.

After taking a short break in 2021 while pregnant, Sudo returned in 2022 and ate 42 dogs to regain her mustard yellow belt.

Last year, she won the competition by making 39 and a half hot dogs in 10 minutes.

Sudo’s previous personal best, and women’s record, was when she ate 48.5 hot dogs in 2020.

She ate a record-breaking 51 servings of dog food in 10 minutes.
