Miley Cyrus is both her parents, loving mother Tish and famous father Billy Ray Cyrus;
she”“Our next guest needs no introduction – David Letterman.” Amid rumors of a very complicated, multi-layered family drama.
Cyrus, one of five children from her parents, admits she was to blame for her family’s move from Tennessee to California after she landed a starring role in the hit Disney Channel series “Hannah Montana.” She appeared on the show for four seasons with her father, who recently said the show “destroyed” the family.

“It was just me at first. I think my mom handles it better,” Cyrus told Letterman, remembering the exact sequence of events.
“I have a terrible memory. I inherited narcissism from my father, so I don’t know anything about my siblings except what I was doing,” she said matter-of-factly. “It’s true. I’m fine.”
Letterman continued to press Cyrus about Billy Ray throughout the interview, with Cyrus going into more detail about the traits she inherited from the country singer, at one point asking the pop star if she ever thought of her father as a hero.
Silas sighed and collected his thoughts before carefully answering.
“Honestly, my mom is my hero, and then, um, my dad,” she began. “First of all, I’m grateful for my dad’s genes. He has amazing hair, and I inherited that. But he has a real, natural, down-to-earth relationship and beliefs. He always has, even when he was super famous. I’m grateful to have seen him go further than me.”

“My dad kind of gave me a map, a map of what to do and what not to do… He guided me in both. I think my dad and I had really different upbringings. My dad was raised very poor in a very small town. His parents divorced when he was very young. My dad had a pretty difficult childhood, but my childhood… I had food, I had love. I grew up in a beautiful, big house, and my dad didn’t have that,” she explained.

“So I have a lot of empathy and sympathy for his childhood. It obviously shaped who he is today and I love him very much.”
When Letterman spoke about the estrangement, Cyrus pivoted slightly: It’s not the right word to describe her relationship with her father. Cyrus, who famously didn’t mention her father in her Grammy acceptance speech in February, acknowledges Billy Ray’s importance and influence, but is reluctant to give him the same credit she gives Tish.

“You can’t really put them on the same scale,” Cyrus told the former late-night show host. “Without my dad, I wouldn’t be sitting in this chair, not in a literal sense. I wouldn’t exist, but I wouldn’t exist as a person, because he has a creative, artistic mind and he always made me feel safe. He and my dad think very similarly,” she explained.

“I inherited his perspective on reality and life from him rather than the way I was raised. I was actually raised by my mother,” she said of Tish.
“My mother was raised by a completely healthy, beautiful family. In fact, she was adopted, she was chosen,” Cyrus told Letterman. “She came into this world wanted, loved and given the most beautiful life. My father didn’t have that.”

Earlier in the interview, Cyrus spoke about the traits she inherited from her mother: “My mom is a very warm, charismatic, hilarious and honest person. I think I get that from her.”
Cyrus’ comments come at a particularly delicate time for Billy Ray, who filed for an annulment from his marriage to Firerose in late May after seven months of marriage. The news broke on Tuesday. According to documents obtained by Fox News Digital, Billy Ray cited both “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital relations” as reasons for the separation.
